OVELIKON

OVELIKON was commissioned by the Musikverein Öflingen for their 125th anniversary. The work begins with a solemn opening theme, appropriate to the anniversary. In the middle section, the song "Der alte Öflinger" (The Old Öflinger) is used, which enjoys a special status in the village and is therefore known to many. Originally, it was a waltz that was mainly performed at carnival. Here, however, I use it as a lyrical theme to describe the meadows and forests of the immediate surroundings and the neighbouring Black Forest. The lively finale, on the other hand, is dedicated to the hustle and bustle of carnival, which enjoys a high status in the village and is celebrated accordingly.
