200-POLKA

A melodic polka, with a lovely intro, which I was honored to compose for the 200th anniversary of the Musega da Vich in the Fassa Valley, which took place in 2020. It was recorded in the studio as part of a CD presentation.

In the following I quote the accompanying text of the polka, lovingly written by the music band itself:

The 200 Polka is a piece written by the famous South Tyrolean composer Armin Kofler for the bicentenary celebrations of the Musega da Vich, a historic musical group of the Val di Fassa. Vigo, a village in the eastern Dolomites, thrives on tourism, craftsmanship and local folklore, where the traditions and customs of the past are expressed through music, traditional costumes, folk festivals and the preservation of the local language, Ladin. The Ladins are living in the valleys of the Sella Group, recognised and protected by the Region Trentino-Alto Adige and the Italian Constitution. In this spirit and with this enthusiasm, the Musega da Vich presents itself to the audience in the costume of the "Veteraner" (pronounced: feteraner), those people who were once used for the first defence of the territory in case of attack or invasion, similar to the "Schützen" of the historical Tyrol, a region to which the Val di Fassa also belonged until the events of the First World War. With the 200 Polka, we want to continue the centuries-old tradition of preserving and spreading folk music that has distinguished the Musega da Vich since 1820. We invite you to come to the Val di Fassa to get to know and discover the world of the LADINI.
